Wansley and Acree remain Lions for 2006

The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive back Tim Wansley and import wide receiver T.J. Acree have re-signed with the club.

Wansley had originally joined the Lions in September 2005 and spent the remainder of the season on the club's practice roster.

“Tim will definitely come in and push our secondary. He's aggressive and he'll challenge our starters,&rdquo said general manager and head coach Wally Buono.

The fiery and physical defender was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002 (7th round, 233rd overall) and appeared in 13 games over two seasons for the Bucs before being released in 2004.

Acree also spent the majority of the 2005 season on the Lions' practice roster, appearing in one game for the Lions (August 12th versus Calgary). The 23-year-old Boise State product ('01-'04), earned top votes for 1st Team All-WAC and two-time WAC Player of the Week honours during the 2004 season.

“T.J. has improved after spending a year with the club and I know he's eager to break into the line-up,&rdquo added Buono.
