Lions Welcome Jerel Myers Back To Den

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import wide receiver Jerel Myers has signed with the team.

Myers originally signed with the Lions in 2005 and went on to play in 15 games that season notching 36 receptions for 473 yards and two touchdowns.

The former LSU-grad departed the Lions for the AFL’s New Orleans Voodoo in 2005. After Hurricane Katrina struck the New Orleans-area the club was forced to suspend operations and Myers found himself with the expansion Kansas City Brigade in 2006 where he led the club in both reception yards and all purpose yards. He also had the distinction of notching the club’s first completion and first passing touchdown in franchise history.

Myers followed up with a successful 2007 campaign leading the Brigade with 900 kickoff return yards in addition to 1,183 receiving yards. He again led the team in all-purpose yards (2,200) and was second in touchdowns (22) while starting all 16 regular season games at wide receiver and setting a franchise record for longest kick return (55 yards).

Last season, Myers hauled in an astounding 136 passes for 1,310 yards and 19 touchdowns.

While at LSU, Myers played in 47 games (’99-’02) and set a school freshman record with 64 receptions for 854 yards and two touchdowns in 1999.
