Receiving trio added to Lions training camp roster

Memphis alum Steven Black will attend Lions training camp in Kamloops this June

The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import wide receivers Steven Black, Dominic Bolden and Tony Washington have signed with the team. All three will take part in rookie camp slated to begin in Kamloops on Wednesday, June 2nd before the entire squad hits the field at Hillside Stadium on Sunday, June 6th.

Black spent two years at the University of Memphis and as a senior, he recorded 286 yards and two TDs on 36 receptions and also scored four rushing TDs by way of 16 carries for 81 yards.  In 2007, he notched 42 receptions for 477 yards and a touchdown and tied the Memphis single-game receptions record with 12. Black was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009 after finishing his playing days at Memphis and was released during the pre-season.

Bolden became a full-time starter at wide receiver  for Liberty University during his senior year in 2008 making 11 starts over 12 games and recording 1,056 yards and nine TDs on 56 receptions. He was also one of the finest kickoff return specialists in the NCAA that year, averaging 29 yards on 49 returns and three TD’s which came on the heels of two previous seasons where he averaged more than 30 yards per return. Dominic attended mini-camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars this past April as undrafted free agent.

Washington appeared in 12 games in his final season at Sacramento State in 2008 and recorded 83 catches for 1,279 yards and 12 TDs. He received First Team All-Big Sky honours that year and attended mini-camp with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009.
