Leos ink receiving trio

The BC Lions Football Club today announced the signing of import receivers Jabin Sambrano, Bryan Burnham and R.J. Webb

Sambrano joins the Lions following recent NFL stints in Indianapolis and Jacksonville. The Montana grad enjoyed a productive college career hauling in 111 passes for 1,787 yards and 19 touchdowns over 47 appearances for the Grizzlies. The speedster was also a key figure on special teams with 40 punt returns for 411 yards and 77 kickoff returns for an additional 1,687 yards and a major.

Burnham was picked up after an impressive free agent workout in Seattle last weekend. The New Jersey native who attended Tulsa made the switch from defensive back to receiver and responded with a team-leading 54 receptions for 850 yards and nine majors in 2011. Two tough injuries limited his career appearances 25 games.

Webb made pro stops in Atlanta and with the AFL’s Georgia Force before spending a year on the practice roster of the Carolina Panthers in 2013. The Furman grad battled through injuries and appeared in 29 games over four years tallying 85 receptions for 1,082 yards and eight touchdowns. 

All three newcomers will hit the field in Kamloops on Thursday, May 28 in advance of Training Camp which kicks off on Sunday, June 1 presented by Sun Peaks Resort.
