The BC Lions Football Club is saddened today with the loss of famed bandleader Dal Richards who passed away last evening. The Vancouver native who would have turned 98 on January 5th was responsible for penning the club’s much beloved fight song Roar You Lions Roar.
“We lost a treasured member of our family and we are extremely saddened by Dal’s passing,” said team president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. “He was an integral part of our community and the long history of our football club. He will be missed greatly by all of us.”
Among his many honours and awards, Richards was inducted onto the BC Lions Wall of Fame in 2003.
