Lions welcome back Steven Clarke; add linebacker

The BC Lions Football Club announced this morning that defensive back Steven Clarke has re-signed with the team.

Steven ClarkeClarke, who appeared in 16 games last season, 15 as a starting corner back, tallied 48 defensive tackles along with his first CFL interception and nine stops on special teams. The Vanderbilt grad had received an early release from the Lions in January to pursue an NFL opportunity with the Tennessee Titans.

The Lions also announced that national linebacker Auston Auston JohnsonJohnson has also been signed. The son of former Lions and Stampeders linebacker Alondra Johnson appeared in 24 games over two seasons at South Dakota recording 67 solo tackles, 11 of them for a loss along with eight sacks.

First-year BC Lions will be on the field on Thursday, May 26 in Kamloops for the first of three mini-camp practices ahead of 2016 Training Camp which begins on Sunday, May 29 and is presented by Sun Peaks Resort.
