Elimimian wins Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award!

The BC Lions football club is pleased to announce that Solomon Elimimian has taken home the CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award. 2016 was a spectacular season for number 56 as he re-established himself as one of the game’s premier defenders after missing a big portion of 2015 with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

“I’m tremendously proud of this award tonight,” said Elimimian. “The hours it took to return to the field were long and the work required to reach this level again was tremendously difficult, but tonight would not possible without the help of my teammates, coaches and support staff. This is a reflection on all of our efforts and I’m honoured to accept it on behalf of our entire organization.”

Elimimian led all defensive players with 129 tackles and also set the Lions’ single-game record when he recorded 14 in a victory in Toronto on August 31st. This is the 4th outstanding player award of Elimimian’s career: he won Most Outstanding Rookie in 2010 before picking up defensive honours and Most Outstanding Player in 2015. He joins Bill Baker, James “Quick” Parker and Cameron Wake as the only players in franchise history Most Outstanding Defensive Player three times.
