Lions re-sign defensive lineman Bryant Turner Jr.

The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that international defensive lineman Bryant Turner Jr. has signed a contract with the team for the 2017 season. Turner was eligible to enter free agency later this month.

“Bryant provides our defence with solid depth at the defensive tackle spot,” said Turner actionGM and head coach Wally Buono. “Last year, he was very receptive to a supporting role which in turn resulted in some very effective play from him down the stretch.”

Turner (6’2”, 280) originally joined the Lions as a free agent heading into the 2016 season. The veteran interior lineman saw action in 10 games last year recording 15 defensive stops and three sacks.

“I enjoyed last season in BC tremendously,” said Turner. “We really have a great mix of youth and experience and I’m very excited to be part of the team heading into 2017.”

The Lions anticipate more signings as CFL free agency nears.

“It’s definitely crunch-time,” said director of player personnel, Neil McEvoy. “We’re getting close on a number of guys and it’s going in the right direction.”
