Lions add three to secondary as camp approaches

The BC Lions Football Club today announced that international defensive backs Kalliy Ceesay, Justin Thomas and Mondo Williams have all signed with the team.

Ceesay (6’2”, 215) is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University and appeared in 33 games over three seasons with the Mountaineers. The lanky defensive back tallied 60 individual tackles and a pair of interceptions during his collegiate career. The Seattle, WA product turned his first career interception into an 83-yard touchdown as a senior in 2016.

Thomas (5’8”, 185) joins the Lions fresh off the campus of the University of Utah where he appeared in 50 games over four years while making 32 starts. The Texas native recorded 104 individual tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and three interceptions. He earned a PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Week nod as a junior in 2015 after notching a 55-yard interception for a major versus Michigan.

Williams (5’11”, 175) begins his CFL career after appearing in 25 games over two years at Appalachian State recording 40 solo tackles, six interceptions and 10 knockdowns. Prior to his time with the Mountaineers, the ball-hawking defensive back spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons in junior college at Iowa Western.

All three newly-signed defensive backs will take part in a 3-day mini camp for first-year Lions in Kamloops, BC from Thursday, May 25 to Saturday, May 27 and will take the field with the full team when Training Camp presented by Sun Peaks Resort officially kicks off on Sunday, May 28.
