Purolator Tackle Hunger Raises 22,000 Pounds of Food for Vancouver and Surrey Food Banks

Vancouver, BC- It was a campaign that started at the club’s season member draft party in May, continued at our Fan Fest event during training camp in Kamloops then culminated with a two-week long social media campaign leading up to Saturday’s thrilling comeback victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

As part of a full team effort, Lions fans, players and staff members stepped up big time for the Vancouver and Surrey Food Banks, donating the equivalent of 22,000 pounds of food for the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.

On game day, several hundred orange-clad fans dropped off their food and cash donations, took a photo with the Grey Cup and entered a draw to win a jersey signed by the entire team.

Purolator Tackle Hunger visits all nine CFL cities on an annual basis.

Since its launch in 2003, the program has raised the equivalent of over 1.5 million pounds of food for families in need. In total, one in six Canadian households relies on the help of their local Food Bank every month.
