In 2012, Lions linebacker Adam Bighill made his sophomore season one to remember as his outstanding play earned him the nomination as the club’s Outstanding Defensive Player en route to selections to both the West Division and CFL All-Star teams.

Following the announcement of his contract extension with the Leos on Tuesday morning, we compiled a list of Biggie's notable numbers from last season.  Impressive, to say the least:

- Finished second overall in tackles in the CFL with 120 in total and was remarkably consistent across the year with 67 total tackles in the first 9 games and 53 in the second half of the season.

- Notched three games of 10+ tackles and 10 games with six or more defensive stops.

- At the half-way mark of the season he had just two sacks but went on to finish up with nine, good for third in the CFL. He led the CFL in QB sacks in the second half of the season matching Charleston Hughes with seven.

- His total of nine sacks stands as the fifth highest total by a BC Lions linebacker in club history and the most since 1996. It was the highest sack total in Lions history for a middle linebacker.

- Tied for the lead in the CFL in total forced turnovers with seven: four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble that led to a Lions recovery.

- Adam played his best in those games where the Lions were challenged the hardest. In the club’s five regular season losses he averaged just under eight defensive tackles per game, two better than his overall average.

- Among the CFL’s tackles leaders only Adam Bighill and J.C. Sherritt of Edmonton were such dominant tacklers. Each had a stunning 17% of their club’s defensive stops and factoring in the total number of defensive plays (BC’s was far less than any other CFL club in 2012), Adam had stops on 12% of all opponent offensive plays.
