(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that defensive backs Dante Marsh and Jerome Dennis have signed contract extensions. Marsh’s deal will keep him in Black and Orange through 2011.
“Dante is a leader on and off the field and Jerome continues to develop into an effective defensive back and special teams player,” said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. “Stability and consistency are very important to the effectiveness of our defence and these signings provide both of those.”
Marsh will enter his sixth season with the Lions after originally joining the club as a free agent in 2004. The former Fresno State standout has appeared in 80 regular season games for the Lions recording 240 defensive tackles adding 13 interceptions. Marsh has been a West Division All-Star twice (’06,’08) and a CFL All-Star in 2008.
Dennis will enter his third season with the Lions after originally joining the club as a free agent in 2007 and making his pro debut in August that year versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A former undrafted free agent signing of the Indianapolis Colts in 2005, Dennis has appeared in 26 regular season games for the Lions recording 24 defensive tackles and adding 13 more on special teams.
