i also remember sitting on the east side of the stadium facing west you could see the top of the roller coaster and there was a cklg73 radio sign up there.
would be nice to make this outdoor venue a permanent one.
go lions go!!
I gave Bob, "Dirty Thirty" - Jim Young's book when it first came out. He had it for a long time, but loaned it to someone, & did not get it back. I'll see if I can find it for him @ "The Bookworm", a local used bookstore, here in White Rock.
Marcia Schell (also B.C. Lions Fan)
Who used to sell Game Programmes @ Empire Stadium. And my best friend,Sally Knight was one of the First Cheerleaders in '54. They were paid $5.00/game. We thought that was wonderful. But I was also envious, as she got to see all the Home Games.
Wishing the return to Empire Stadium this season will prove to be hugely successful for Wally Buono & the B.C. Lions.
We used this picture in a photo tribute to my dad at his memorial service, as well.
He so loved "his" Lions. Particularly this past season, when he was so weak and fragile. He had to give up so many other things that he loved to do, but no matter what, he always took great pleasure in watching the Lions from the comfy confines of his favourite recliner.
To add to my brother's comment about my Grandad's original season tickets to the Lion's games at Empire Stadium...
Their Away games were always background to our Sunday dinners at Grandma and Grandad's, the broadcasts of which resonate to this day, as part of the soundtrack of our lives.
My grandad, like my dad, was a quiet man, but he too was very passionate about his Lions!
