The BC Lions Football Club announced today that they have added linebacker / long-snapper Jordan Matechuk from the practice roster of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Matechuk will join the Lions on Wednesday.

A former Canadian junior football standout, Matechuk attended training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2007 before being signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2008. He would go in to play 41 regular season games with the ‘Cats over the three seasons, collecting 23 special teams tackles.

After missing the 2011 campaign, Matechuk returned to the Blue Bombers in 2012 and dressed for one game and was on the 46-man roster for 10 others. He was signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders this past May and was assigned to the club’s practice roster following training camp.
