In today's world of the three R's - reduce, reuse, and recycle - now, more than ever, Canadians are making it a priority to preserve their environment for generations to come.

With this in mind, the Black and Orange kicked off the BC Lions Terasen Gas Energy Champions program, an initiative designed specifically for children in kindergarten through grade seven that emphasizes the importance of environmental responsibility.

Making its debut at Abbotsford's John MacLure Elementary earlier this week, the inaugural Terasen Gas Energy Champions presentation featured Lions offensive lineman Dean Valli and fullback Lyle Green speaking in front of hundreds of young 'energy champions'.  During the session, several young audience members were also invited to join the Lions in interactive activities with their peers.

In 2010, the BC Lions Terasen Gas Energy Champions program will visit 75 elementary schools throughout the lower mainland, Vancouver Island, the Interior and northern BC.
