As 40th annual Earth Day awareness campaigns kick off this week throughout more than 190 countries around the globe, the BC Lions continue their efforts to make an environmental impact on a more local level with their Terasen Gas Energy Champions program.
Now midway through its inaugural campaign, the initiative is proudly supported by Terasen Gas and Plutonic Power and is designed specifically for children in kindergarten through grade seven, emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility and being an 'Energy Champion'.
To date, the Black and Orange have visited 67 schools and have spoken to more than 25,400 children. By the time the initiative wraps up in late May, the Lions will have visited 75 elementary schools throughout the lower mainland, Vancouver Island, the Interior and Northern BC as part of the Terasen Gas Energy Champions program.
