HIT THE FIELD/PLAY FOOTBALL
Play with the Pros
Play with the Pros matches BC Lions players with boys and girls, providing them with an opportunity to participate in a non-contact skills clinic hosted by their favourite BC Lions players. The participants are divided into groups and rotate from skill station to skill station every 10-15 minutes. One player, one alumni and one volunteer coach (local high school or community) are assigned per station, teaching skills such as passing, receiving, pass routes, and proper running techniques.
On Sunday, June 18th 2006, 250 kids traveled from all over the Lower Mainland to participate in Play with the Pros at the BC Lions Surrey Training Facility. Out of the 250 kids, 40 of them traveled all the way from Princeton, BC to participate in this one-day only, fun and interactive clinic taught by BC Lions football players and alumni. Special thanks to the staff, volunteers, and BC Lions football players Dave Dickenson, Paul McCallum, Dante Marsh, Angus Reid, Tony Simmons, Lyle Green, Tyrone Williams, Tyson Craiggs, and Jason Pottinger as well as BC Lions alumni Ty Crews, John Henry White, Giulio Caravatta, Corey Philpot, Glen Jackson and Tony Collier for making this event a great success!
