The BC Lions have proudly teamed up with The Province newspaper as Lion Share partners to benefit The Province Empty Stocking Fund for every CFL home playoff game for the last number of years. While the Lions won’t have a home playoff game this year, you can still give a Christmas to those in our BC communities who need our help. 

The Province Empty Stocking Fund, celebrating 90 years of giving this 2008 holiday season, has many ways for you to make a difference.

Here’s how:

Donations can be made, throughout the month of December, through the following:

1.                  By cutting out the Empty Stocking Fund coupon running in The Province Newspaper daily throughout December and mailing to P.O. Box 2900, Vancouver, BC, V6B 3X4

2.                  At the Province Promotions Desk in main lobby of 200 Granville St.

3.                  On-line at www.theprovince.com/esf

4.                  By calling 1-800-805-1185

5.                  At participating HSBC and Scotiabank branches throughout BC

Donations can also be made all year long by mail to:  The Province Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 2900, Vancouver BC, V6B 3X4.

Got a fundraising idea this holiday season?  Whether it be a silent auction, corporate pancake breakfast, an in-house coin collection or some other great fundraising initiative, you can make the Province Empty Stocking Fund part of your holiday plans.

The Province Empty Stocking Fund was inaugurated as the Santa Claus Fund in 1912.  In 1918 it became THE EMPTY STOCKING FUND and has since grown to become the largest newspaper Christmas fund-drive in Canada.

The funds are administered through the Empty Stocking Fund’s partner, United Way of the Lower Mainland and will go to support worthwhile community organizations throughout BC.  Administration costs for the Empty Stocking Fund are covered by The Province Newspaper.

Community organizations which will benefit from money raised during the 2008 campaign include organizations such as designated Christmas Bureaus, Salvation Army units and other worthwhile community organizations throughout BC.
