From the Lions’ inaugural season in 1954 until the move indoors to BC Place in 1983, the Black and Orange spent the better part of three decades at Vancouver’s historic Empire Stadium in the shadow of the mountain range that shares the club’s name.
Over the years, Lions fans at Empire Stadium were treated to the club’s first touchdown, first win, and the evolution of outstanding football talent featuring the likes of Norm Fieldgate, Joe Kapp, Willie Fleming, Jim Young, Lui Passaglia and many, many more.
In honour of the club’s once-in-a-lifetime return home to Empire Fields for the 2010 season, we’re looking for your most memorable Empire moments, best stories and special snapshots to feature on bclions.com.
We’ll showcase some of our favourites on the bclions.com home page throughout the season, with two lucky winners taking home commemorative Empire Fields prize packs including unique game experiences and exclusive merchandise!
Have a story you’d like to share? In 500 words or less, tell us about your favourite moment(s) as a Lions fan at Empire Stadium. Whether it’s a special memory of an on-field play, a big win or an unforgettable time with family and friends, we’d love to hear them all!
We'll also add your photos to a special photo gallery on bclions.com for your fellow Lions fans to enjoy.
The Empire Memories Contest is now closed - thank you to all fans who submitted entries.
Be sure to stay tuned to bclions.com in coming weeks as we announce the winner!
