How many people audition for the Felions?
Approximately 100 to 150 candidates audition each year to fill 32 to 36 final game day positions. Previous Felions Dance Team members are required to audition for the 2012 season in order to make the team. You must attend the tryouts on Sunday, March 18th for an opportunity to make the team as no further tryouts will take place.
What type of time commitment is involved if I make the team?
Being a Felion is a large commitment for nine months. The Felions rehearse every Sunday at Steve Nash Sports Club (Morgan Crossing), from March 25th until the 100th Grey Cup on Sunday, November 25th. Felions can miss a maximum of three rehearsals.
You will be required to perform at the BC Lions pre-season game and all nine BC Lions regular season home games, as well as one potential home playoff game.
You will be required to participate in the 100th Grey Cup Festival and Championship, which will be held in Toronto from November 22nd to 26th. This trip is paid for by the BC Lions Football Club in return for your participation in Felions fundraising initiatives, such as the Felions 2012/13 calendar.
The Felions also attend more than 200 corporate, charity and community events per calendar year as the face of the BC Lions Football Club.
Do the Felions get paid?
Felions Dance Team members are not compensated for rehearsals or game day performances; however, there are many opportunities for paid appearances throughout the year.
Felions also receive two 2012 BC Lions season tickets and are provided with numerous sponsored services such as gym memberships, tanning, clothing discounts, and hair styling.
If I make the team, will I be in the Felions Calendar?
Yes, all members of the Felions Dance Team will have the opportunity to be in the 2012/13 calendar. Felions will also be required to sell these calendars throughout the season.
