Marquis was signed as a free agent by the Lions in February 2017.
2013-2016: Marquis was an undrafted free agent signing of the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. He attended training camp with the club before being waived in August. He later signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2014 before making his way to the Arena Football League where he appeared in 18 games over two seasons with the Portland Thunder. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 2016 and was released in August.
2008-2012: Marquis began his university playing days at College of the Canyons where he enjoyed a notable rookie season recording 10 sacks and 60 defensive stops. He stepped away from the game to concentrate on his studies during 2009 season and committed to Texas Southern to resume his career in 2010. Over two seasons and 23 games with the Tigers he collected 55 individual tackles, 19 of which were for a loss along with 11 sacks. The lofty numbers earned him First Team All-SWAC honours both years. He wrapped up his eligibility with one season at Portland State in 2012 recording 23 defensive stops and six sacks.
Marquis resides in Happy Valley, Oregon where he operates his own business, Shadow Guard Security. The California native was a Liberal Arts and History major in college and has been playing football since the age of six. His twin brother Malik plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marquis lists his fiancé and two young daughters as his biggest fans and a one-point win over Grambling State along with an eventual win in the SWAC Championship in 2010 as his most memorable football experiences to date. When he isn’t busy with family and business interests or sitting down to catch episodes of the Walking Dead, he acts as the director of football for a non-profit program called JL Sport Performance.
