Khalif rejoins the Lions after spending a year with the Toronto Argonauts following an off-season trade in 2013. Originally joining the club in 2010, Khalif spent three seasons with the Lions before being dealt to the Argos. He signed as a free agent May 6, 2014 to begin his second stint with the club.
2013: In his first and only season in Toronto, Khalif notched 32 tackles and a team-leading five sacks. His standout play during the season earned him an East Division and CFL All-Star selection.
2012: Khalif appeared in 12 games as a starter, recording 15 tackles and a pair of sacks. He also notched two tackles in the Western Final vs Calgary.
2011: Khalif emerged in 2011 as one of the CFL’s dominant interior linemen and, despite playing in just 14 games, was named to both the West Division and CFL All-Star squads. He was sat in reserve role in three of the first six weeks of the season, but settled into a starting role down the club’s great stretch run.
Khalif ranked third on the club with six sacks and added four pass knockdowns, along with a sack in the Western Final and Grey Cup wins. His best effort of the year came against Toronto on Sep 10/11, when he recorded three sacks.

2010-2013: Khalif signed with the Lions in September 2010 and made his CFL debut against Calgary on Sep 25/10. In 2011, he was a regular in the defensive unit and had his finest season earning Western and CFL all-star status. Over three previous seasons he played 33 games for the Lions with 54 tackles and eight sacks.
Following an offseason trade to Toronto in 2013, Khalif returned to form leading the Double Blue in sacks with five and picking up his second career CFL All-Star nod. He has now appeared in 50 regular season games and has another four games to his credit in the post-season.

2004-2008: Khalif started his collegiate career at North Carolina in 2004. He dressed for 22 games over two seasons and collected 18 tackles and a sack. In 2006, he transferred to East Carolina and sat out the season before resuming his career in the 2007 and 2008 campaigns.
The imposing Mitchell was an honourable mention All-Conference USA selection in 2007 after a 19-tackle season which also included a pair of sacks over 11 games. Despite an injury-shortened season in 2008, he managed 16 more tackles and a sack.
Khalif majored in Communications while at East Carolina and only started playing football in his junior year of high school after moving to Virginia Beach from New Jersey. In addition to playing his defensive line position, he also played fullback in high school, much to the horror of opposing defenses and was a member of the school’s track and field team, competing in shot put and discus.
He lists Julius Peppers and Lawrence Taylor as his favourite athletes and enjoys playing the piano and drums.
