Two more pieces added to Lions defence

The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive back John Richardson and import linebacker Solomon Elimimian have signed with the team. Both will take part in rookie camp slated to begin in Kamloops on Wednesday, June 2nd before the entire squad hits the field at Hillside Stadium on Sunday, June 6th.

Richardson concluded his career at North Dakota State in 2008 with 20 tackles, eight pass knockdowns, one interception and a fumble recovery as a senior, and never missed a game over two seasons with the Bisons.  As a junior, he recorded 55 tackles, nine pass knockdowns and an interception.  Prior to transferring to North Dakota State, Richardson attended Mt. San Antonio College where he notched 48 tackles, nine pass knockdowns, two TFL, two interceptions and a sack during his sophomore season.  As a freshman, he recorded 28 tackles along with one interception for a touchdown.  .

Elimimian played in 14 games for the Warriors during his senior season (2008) and led the team with 121 tackles, including seven games with 10 or more stops earning WAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year honours. He wrapped up his career as Hawaii’s all-time leading tackler (434 tackles) and second all-time in the WAC. Elimimian was a free agent signing of the Buffalo Bills in 2009 an attended training camp with the NFL club before being released.
