BC Lions VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono has announced changes to the club’s football operations department this morning.

Neil McEvoy, who had previously served as the Lions’ player personnel coordinator and assistant to the GM has been named the club’s director of football operations and player personnel.

“Neil has been a key component of our overall success for the past number of years and he’s earned this opportunity,” said Buono.

Roy Shivers, who previously held the director’s title will remain with the Lions in a consultancy role as well as a west coast scout.

“I’m pleased that Roy will remain with the club in this capacity,” noted Buono. “He has a lot to offer in his new role and he will continue to play a valuable part in our efforts to be a championship team.”

The Lions also named Ryan Rigmaiden as the club’s director of U.S. scouting along with Mike McCarthy and Joe Womack as regional scouts.

“Ryan is a young and very successful talent evaluator,” said McEvoy. “In his role as the GM of the Spokane Shock we established a mutually beneficial relationship over the past few years with regard to players who were best suited to our respective leagues. Ryan understands the nuances of our game and the kind of players we need to be successful in the future.”
