The BC Lions Football Club announced today that receivers Shawn Gore and Stephen Adekolu along with offensive lineman Cody Husband have signed contract extensions through the 2017 season.

“These are key signings for our club as we begin the process of building towards an improved and successful 2016 season,” said VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono.

Gore comes off his sixth season with the Lions and has recorded 247 career receptions for 3,074 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Ontario native who now makes his home in the Vancouver area notched 40 catches for 438 yards and a pair of majors this past season.

“It’s an honour to get to continue to play here,” said Gore. “Not many people get to play their whole career with one team.”

Seeing action primarily on special teams, Adekolu appeared in all 18 regular season games for the Lions this season giving him 24 for his career. The Bishop’s grad recorded three special teams stops in 2015.

“I’m really excited to be able to play with the Lions for another two seasons” said Adekolu. “I’m looking forward to continuing to grow with the offence next year.”

A home-grown product out of New Westminster, Husband wraps up his second season as a Leo and fourth year as a pro. The UBC grad started the final eight games of the regular season and Western Semi-Final at right guardfor the Lions.

The home-town boy says he’s really happy to get another two years in front of the home crowd. “The fans are amazing. I love being at BC Place.”
