The BC Lions Football Club today announced that they have granted early free agent status to linebacker Bo Lokombo enabling him to pursue an NFL opportunity.
“Bo is a talented and exciting player who brought an extra dimension to our defense,” said GM and head coach Wally Buono. “We wish him the best as he moves forward into the next phase of his career.”
The University of Oregon product was drafted in the third round (21st overall) in 2013 and joined the Lions in September of the following season.
In 43 career games, he recorded 33 defensive tackles, 44 special teams stops and one sack. His most productive season came in 2015 after Solomon Elimimian went down with his Achilles injury. Lokombo filled in with 24 defensive stops and also earned a Western Division All-Star nod on special teams.
