BC Lions To Add Carl Kidd and Brent Johnson To Wall Of Fame

The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that former defensive lineman Brent Johnson and linebacker Carl Kidd will be inducted onto the BC Lions Wall of Fame during halftime on Friday, August 18 when the Leos host the Calgary Stampeders.

Brent and Carl are very worthy recipients of this honour and Im pleased to see them saluted by the club for their many contributions during their careers,” said Lions’ VP of football operations, GM and head coach Wally Buono. “Both were inspirational players with unique qualities and they played significant roles on some of ourorganizations most talented teams.”

Johnson, whose number 97 was quickly retired following the 2011 championship season after 11 sensational years, now adds a Wall of Fame honour to his remarkable career. The Lions’ all-time leader in quarterback sacks with 89, Brent earned both the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and Most Outstanding Canadian award in 2006, helping lead the way to the club’s fifth Grey Cup title that season. He was also the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2005 as well as a three-time CFL All-Star (2008, 2006 and 2005), five-time West Division All-Star (2010, 2008, 2006, 2005 and 2004) and two-time Grey Cup champion (2006, 2011).

One of the team’s most colourful and inspirational players in recent Lions history, linebackerCarl Kidd appeared in 94 regular season games, eight playoff tilts and three Grey Cup finals over seven remarkable seasons for the club. A significant part of Grey Cup title-winning teams in 2000 and 2006, the Arkansas native’s dynamic and rugged play on both defence and special teams earned him West Division All-Star selections in 2002 and 2006.  Kidd’s 368 combined tackles on defence and special teams ranks him in the top-10 all-time among Lions as do his five defensive touchdowns. Of his many accomplishments on the field however, perhaps none eclipsed his ability to motivate and inspire his teammates to achieve greatness at the most critical time during games.

The BC Lions (4-2) host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-3) on Saturday, August 5 at 4:00 pm presented by Budweiser. Single game tickets for all Lions 2017 regular season home games are on sale now. Tickets for Kids 12 and under are available for just $5.
