He is third all-time in passing yards for the franchise and is the only quarterback to hoist the Grey Cup and win CFL Most Outstanding Player in BC Lions colours. And on the day Travis Lulay officially walked away from football after ten seasons with the club, tributes are pouring in from across the league. A valuable asset to the organization on the field, Lulay will also be remembered for the person he is off of it. Here is a look at some of the messages on Twitter:
Congrats on your RETIREMENT my brother! I enjoyed playing against you and playing with you(pause) on the same team! See you on the other side travislulay ✊🏾 https://t.co/mCFgnYua0j

Dear @TravisLulay I had the pleasure to be your roommate early on in your career, basically before you got too big time 😉 You drew plays in these notebooks all night, I knew you’d be special.
GENERAL LU! It was an honor to block for you 🦁

and a great human being. My fondest memory of you is before a game in Calgary last year you hobbled over on your crutches just to give me (the lone BC fan) a high five before going in to the locker room. You always went out of your way and your impact on the game will not soon be

Vancouver falls in love with its athletes that represent us with class & humility, along with excellence. The Sedins last year & now @TravisLulay. I very much enjoyed covering him & wish i wasnt asking about injuries so often! #ThankYouLulay #BCLionshttps://t.co/ZjjgXikJzF

There are only 6 @bclions QBs who have won Grey Cups. Only 3 Lions QBs have won @CFL MOP. @TravisLulay is the only one to get both. The fact he’s a better person & citizen than he is a football player speaks volumes.

One of the best players I’ve seen in a @BCLions uniform and one of the best guys I’ve met! Thanks @TravisLulay and all the best whatever comes next ( coaching maybe?) #ThankYouLulay pic.twitter.com/AvXx6Sy7In

that 2011 season will always have its place in Vancouver sports history. From terrible start to Grey Cup win on home turf. From Empire back to BC Place. @TravisLulay MOP. https://t.co/5OYB2ybi3K

It was a true delight to chronicle every step of Travis’ CFL journey. Never once did he wince answering bad questions and there were many along the way. Hopefully there’s football in his future; the game needs him to stay involved. Good luck in the next chapter. https://t.co/0Nvi0nyqoN
