BC LIONS FOOTBALL CLUB – POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:                                           Coordinator, Game Operations & Events

FUNCTIONS:

  • To provide support in the coordination and execution of facility and game day operations at BC Place Stadium.
  • To assist in the coordination of the BC Lions event portfolio.

WORKS DIRECTLY WITH:

All members of the BC Lions organization and other key contacts, such as: BC Place Stadium, Game Day volunteers, Cadets, Felions Dance Team, and all game & event suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. FACILITY OPERATIONS (BC PLACE):
  • Management of storage inventory and control
  • Responsible for the coordination of general office maintenance including liaising with building manager
  • Responsible for coordination of all functions with BC Place Stadium including but not limited to: Load-in times, set-up, pick-up/drop offs etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of stadium and club meetings between BC Place and the Lions.
  1. GAME DAY OPERATIONS:
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of Game Day Activity Sheet for all staff, including BC Place Stadium.
  • Coordination of show office set-up and take-down, including radio control, food & beverage
  • Management of beverage ordering and inventory for game-day and special events.
  • In conjunction with Manager, Game Operations, & Events contracting of Game Day Suppliers for contra and other requirements included in budget.
  • Coordination with sponsorship, merchandise, sales and groups regarding room designation, tables/ chairs/ pipe& drape/ skirting.
  • Coordination of pre/ post game giveaways with BC Place
  • Oversee Pre-game Street Party management (Terry Fox Plaza and other off-site events) elements including: Entertainment, Tenting, Host/MC, Sponsor Elements, Set-up & Tear-down, Volunteers, Prizing
  • Food & Beverage order for Players, Coaches, Officials, Volunteers, Kids Room as well as Halftime and Special Game Day Event participants.
  • Assigning and coordination of game day designated parking spots tracking and reconciliation
  • Coordination and creation of game day accreditation and stadium entrance list with approval from Manager, Game Operations & Events
  • Assist budget management process with Manager, Game Operation & Events. Specifically, in the areas of accreditation, parking, catering.
  • Coordination and support of Field Pass distribution and chaperones in each quadrant for pre-game
  • Assist in the Coordination of Game Day Associate position.
  • Event assistance and coordination for Wall of Fame reception, Punt Pass and Kick Finals, BCFHOF reception.
  • Responsible for communication from fan feedback emails and all operational complaints in conjunction with Manager, Game Operations & Events.
  • Arranging necessary Game Day Payments with finance department.
  1. SPECIAL EVENTS:
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of BC Lions events including but not limited to:
    • Training Camp Fan Fest
    • Viewing Parties
    • Waterboys Breakfasts
    • BC Lions Charity Golf Tournament
    • Locker Room Sale
    • Orange Helmet Awards
    • Draft A Lion
    • Season Member Events
  1. OTHER:

All other duties as assigned by Manager, Game Operations & Events

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE)

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (Business, Sport Management, Event Planning etc.)
  • Experience working in a professional office environment would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of football and the Canadian Football League would be an asset.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Must possess proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take direction well and multi-task under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a time sensitive and live event environment
  • A keen attention to detail and sense of urgency
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
  • Access to personal vehicle an asset (not required)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Some evenings & weekends during the football season as well as specific event related dates will be required
