Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Digital/Video Associate is to support the BC Lions digital team in video/ graphic production, web maintenance & content posting across all BC Lions’ digital and social media platforms. This includes, but is not limited to bclions.com, BC Lions Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other social platforms. This role will report directly to the Manager, Digital Platforms and Social Media. The individual will assist the Digital department in a number of key areas, including but not limited to:

  • Working with the digital/video team to ensure the latest content is provided to fans on all digital platforms
  • Assisting with video set-up, interviews, shooting practices and games
  • Assisting with video editing post-practice, at games and throughout the week with featured content and sponsored assets
  • Contributing editorial content covering football, human interest and community relations topics to the club’s official website, BCLions.com
  • Working with all departments (ticketing/sponsorship/marketing/game ops) to ensure website is updated & current
  • Writing social media posts in the proper voice and in a fast-paced, always on-the-fly environment
  • Assisting to make sure all content is grammatically correct and factually accurate and that the writing style is consistent with BC Lions editorial and social policies and best practices
  • During games, be able to manage and create live content from the side-lines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
  • Working with the video manager to develop good video content and interview the proper subjects
  • Demonstrating expert news and social judgment when determining what is socially relevant and what is not
  • Understanding of the type of content a BC Lions fan wants to digest and interact with socially
  • Be able to plan not just specific posts but execute macro game plan as a whole
  • Regularly monitoring the team’s and players’ social media channels

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of video production & web/social media experience
  • Advanced Proficiency with Premiere Pro and After Effects or other video editing software
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop with the ability to create basic graphics
  • Proficiency with DSLR videography and sound recording/editing
  • Advanced proficiency in WordPress CMS
  • Familiarity with CFL and BC Lions social voice and content
  • Keen knowledge and passion for BC Lions football
  • Excellent written and verbal communications abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills/team oriented
  • Strong ability to work independently while working in a team environment


Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work extended and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as required
  • Must be available to work at all BC Lions home games
