Jeff returns to the Lions for his third tour of duty after making his CFL coaching debut with the club from 1991 to 1993 and returning again in 1996. The popular, innovative and renowned coach most recently served as defensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2017 preceded by four years as the club’s special teams coordinator and linebackers coach.

With more than 35 years of coaching experience, Jeff’s previous CFL stops include a year with the Las Vegas Posse (1994), a one-year term as special teams coordinator in Edmonton (1995), a two-year stop in Winnipeg  as head coach (1997-98) and one year spent as defensive coordinator in Montreal (2012).

In addition to his time spent north of the border and stints in NFL Europe with the Rheine Fire and Amsterdam Admirals, Jeff also enjoyed a tremendously successful college coaching career including one year as special teams coordinator at Louisiana Tech, two years at the University of Hawaii (2006-07) tutoring the school’s defensive line and a four-year stint at SMU (2008-11) as wide receivers coach.

The South Bend, Indiana native played defensive back at the University of Maine and began his coaching career at Western Montana in 1981. He would later take positions at Dartmouth, Montana, Pennsylvania, Rocky Mountain College and New Mexico before making his CFL coaching debut.
