Buddy was signed by the Lions as a free agent on February 13, 2017.
2014-2016: The well-traveled Florida native was most recently a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and appeared in six games for the Green and White in 2016 tallying 21 defensive stops. Originally coming to the CFL as a member of the Calgary Stampeders in 2013, Jackson spent a year on the club’s practice roster before becoming a regular in the Stamps’ lineup for parts of two seasons including their Grey Cup title campaign in 2014.
Following his release by Calgary in August 2015, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys in December. He returned to the CFL in June 2016 with the ‘Riders. Over the last three CFL seasons, the University of Pittsburgh grad has 24 CFL starts under his belt tallying 88 defensive tackles.
2012-2014: Prior to his days in the CFL, Buddy spent time with the Indianapolis Colts with whom he signed as an undrafted free agent coming out of school. He also had stops with the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers.
2007-2011: Buddy spent five seasons at the University of Pittsburgh appearing in 40 career games recording 53 defensive tackles. The versatile defender also tallied 23 kick returns for 543 yards and one touchdown.
Buddy’s given name is Anthony and he’s been playing football since the age of six. He was an Administration of Justice major at Pitt and lists winning the 2014 Grey Cup as his biggest football memory to date. A gifted musician, Buddy plays the drums and keyboard at his church in the off-season.
