DeQuin was signed by the Lions as a free agent on February 14, 2017.
2014–2016: Originally coming to the CFL as a member of the Calgary Stampeders in 2014, Evans spent two seasons with the Stamps, recording 19 defensive stops and three sacks over 13 regular season appearances. While not on the active roster for the game, he was part of Calgary Grey Cup-winning team in 2014. He signed with Montreal as a free agent in 2016 and dressed for five games tallying four stops and a sack.
2011-2013: DeQuin was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and spent time on both the practice roster and injured list before being waived in November 2013.
2007-2010: DeQuin began his collegiate playing days at Los Angeles Harbor College before transferring to the University of Kentucky.
As a Wildcat, he appeared in 25 games over two years of eligibility tallying 32 defensive tackles, 15 stops for a loss and seven sacks.
DeQuin was a standout on the field and in the classroom at Kentucky, majoring in Communications. He lists winning the 2014 Grey Cup as a member of the Calgary Stampeders as his most memorable football moment to date. The Compton, CA product dreams of being a professional wrestler once his playing days are over. DeQuin already has some experience in the ring, as he did his best Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson impression during a TNA wrestling match in 2013.
DeQuin is a big fan of Christian rap and Hawaiian reggae, listing Bizzle, Sevin and J Boog as some of his favourite artists. When he isn’t sacking quarterbacks on the football field, you will find DeQuin bettering the lives of young people in his community. DeQuin’s mother courageously beat cancer and he cites her as the person he looks up to the most. He lives by the motto, “Life was never easy for me, and I will never expect it to be. To God be the glory!”
