Dyshawn was signed by the Lions as a free agent in April 2016. Following the season he re-signed with the club for the 2017 season.
2017: In his second year as a Lion, Dyshawn spent the first 14 weeks of the year as a reserve before being activated for the final four games of the season. The hard-hitting linebacker made the most of his playing time recording six defensive tackles, two of which were for a loss, along with seven stops on special teams.
2016: Dyshawn enjoyed an impressive training camp for the Lions which earned him an opening day spot on the active roster. He spent the remaining 17 weeks on the club’s practice roster.
2015: Dyshawn was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent and appeared in three preseason games for the club before being waived late in camp.
2011-2014: Dyshawn enjoyed a notable and productive career at Syracuse where he was a four-year starter at linebacker for the Orange appearing in 49 games. As a senior in 2014, he racked-up a career-best 53 individual tackles giving him 157 for his career, including an incredible 37.5 stops for a loss.
During his time at Syracuse, Dyshawn earned Bachelor of Science degree and majored in Child & Family Studies. This hip-hop lover says his uncle, Albert, is his biggest fan and also took him to his first football game which sparked his interest in the sport. Dyshawn places a high value in giving back to the community and enjoys motivating and working out with the kids in the Camden, New Jersey area.
