Jared signed with the Lions in December 2022.

Highlights:

2022: Jared attended a rookie mini-camp with the Arizona Cardinals.

College:

2019-2021: Transferred to the University of Hawaii and made an immediate impact in 2019 with 87 receptions for 1,129 yards for the Rainbow Warriors. He averaged 13 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns. One of his biggest games was against BYU in the SoFi Hawaii Bowl where he caught seven passes for 142 yards and two scores. Led the Rainbow Warriors in 2020 with 36 receptions and 320 receiving yards. Jared started all nine contests and earned an all-mountain West honourable mention In 13 games over his senior season, Jared hauled in 26 receptions for 414 yards and two touchdowns at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He became the Rainbow Warriors’ top 20 players in receiving yards (1,849). Jared played his final game of the season in the Hula Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

2018: Jared was a standout football player at Laney College in Oakland, California. He helped his team to capture the school’s first-ever CCCAA state championship in 2018.

Personal:

Jared is the son of former New York Knicks assistant coach, Keith Smart, who played for the University of Indiana Hoosiers that sink the game-winning shot against the Syracuse Orange in the 1987 NCAA Championship.

In 2017, Jared graduated from Dublin High School in California where he excelled in football and basketball.
