Kourtnei was signed as a free agent by the Lions in October of 2017.
2017: Kourtnei signed on with the Lions in October during the CFL’s annual practice roster expansion period. He immediately showed promise on the practice roster and made his CFL debut on October 28 against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg. He remained on the active roster for the season finale against the Toronto Argonauts on November 4 at BC Place. Kourtnei registered a pair of defensive tackles across two games in 2017. Prior to joining the Leos, Kourtnei attended training camp with the Tennessee Titans.
2013–2016: Beginning his pro career as an undrafted free agent signing of the San Francisco 49ers in 2012, Kourtnei spent the next three years on various practice rosters in the NFL including Washington, Buffalo, Detroit and St. Louis before landing in Houston in 2015 where he appeared in four games for the Texans. After being waived by Houston in November, he also appeared in one game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that season before becoming a free agent in 2016.
2007–2011: Kourtnei appeared in 49 career games at Clemson recording 75 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks along with an interception, three pass breakups and two fumbles recoveries.
Kourtnei majored in Sports Recreation at Clemson. KB, as he is referred to by teammates, began playing football in the tenth grade at Charlotte Victory Christian Center and his most memorable moment on the football field was scoring a pair of touchdowns in a game against Chapel Hill High School. A kid at heart, Kourtnei lists The Lion King as his favourite film. He loves to listen to Kendrick Lamar to get him ready for a game and in his down time you’ll find Kourtnei watching Game of Thrones or Power on television.
