Josh was signed as a free agent by the Lions in January 2022.

Highlights:

2020-21: Montay moved north to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 28th and would opt out of contract after the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Re-signed with the Blue Bombers in January 2021 and would attend training camp with the team.

2019: Was a member of the Alliance American Football (AAF) Atlanta Legends before the league ceased operations. Signed with the Oakland Raiders on June 11th and was released in mid-July.

2018: Montay was picked up off waivers from the Houston Texans in January and then released from the team in May. Returned to Jacksonville in June and attended training camp before his release in early September. Had practice roster stints with the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Football Team to close out 2018.

2017: Signed with the Green Bay Packers as a non-drafted free agent and was released at the end of training camp. Montay then signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in October and was on the active roster for their regular season finale against Tennessee and AFC Wild Card Game win over Buffalo.

College:
2013-2016: Montay suited up in 47 games with 18 starts at Georgia Southern. He recorded 32 catches for 525 yards and three touchdowns while adding 144 yards and two majors on 15 carries. Made both the Dean’s List and Sun Belt Conference Academic Honour Roll in his junior year of 2015-16.
