Shea was signed as a free agent by the Lions in June 2021.
2020: Shea signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a non-drafted free agent and was waived by the club during training camp. He made his pro debut later that year with the Blues of the US developmental Spring League.
2018-2019: Shea transferred to Michigan for his final two years of eligibility where his 5,661 passing yards put him ahead of both Tom Brady and his coach Jim Harbaugh into seventh on the Wolverine’s all-time list. In 26 games, Patterson also recorded a total of 424 completions and 45 touchdown passes. A two-time All-Big Ten selection, Shea was winner of the team’s Offensive Player of the Year award in 2018.
2016-2017: Suited up in ten contests over two seasons at Ole Miss, completing 238 passes for 3,139 yards and 23 touchdowns before his sophomore season was cut short due to a knee injury. Set a single-game school record with 489 passing yards against UT Martin on September 9th, 2017.
Shea also plays baseball and was drafted in round 39 of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. His grandfather George Patterson played two seasons in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons in the late 1960s.
