2012-2015: Swayze was originally signed by the Edmonton Eskimos in June 2012, but later released by the club before being signed by the Toronto Argonauts in July. He would earn a Grey Cup ring that year as a member of the Double Blue dressing in 14 regular season games and tallying 133 points.

In 2014, Waters enjoyed a sensational year on his way to the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player nod as he led the league in scoring (192 pts), field goals (47) and punting average (47.7 yards). It was the first time since 1983 and the Lions’ own Lui Passaglia, that a player led all three categories in the same season.

Over four seasons in Toronto, Swayze appeared in 46 games along with four post season tilts. His success rate on field goals was 79.5% while averaging an impressive 46.9 yards per punt and 66.5 yards per kickoff.

Waters Raiders

2009-2011: Swayze’s first taste of pro football came after signing with the Detroit Lions as a undrafted free agent in 2009. He was eventually waived by the club in August and signed with the Oakland Raider the following April. He attended training camp with the Raiders that year before being waived as part of the club’s final roster cut-down. He inked a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in February 2011 and was again released late in camp that year.

College:
2005-2008: Swayze appeared in 46 games over four years at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His final two seasons saw him look after punting, place-kicking and field goal duties. He averaged 42.3 yards per punt and was good on 50 of his 64 field goal attempts.

Personal:
Swayze graduated from UAB in 2009 with a degree in Business Management with a focus in Marketing. He cites winning the 2012 Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts and signing his letter of intent to play for the Blazers as his most memorable football moments. When he is not booting footballs 50-plus yards you will most likely find Swayze barbecuing steaks for his family and friends at their home in Jackson, MS. Swayze unwinds by going fishing and hunting. Fun fact: Swayze comes from a long line of professional baseball players. Fred Waters, David Waters and Jack Waters all played at various levels of the minor and major leagues during the 1940’s and 50’s. Fred even toed the rubber for two seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the mid-50’s.
