Acquired:

Taquan was signed as a free agent by the Lions on April 18, 2022. He would attend his first Lions training camp in 2023.

Highlights:

2023: After a solid training camp competition, Mizzell would emerge as the club’s starting tailback. He would record 773 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 157 carries and hauled in 41 receptions for 291 yards and a major across 14 regular season games. Added 82 yards from scrimmage in the Lions’ Western Semi-Final win over Calgary.

2020-2021: moved to the New York Giants on November 17, 2020. He continued to stay with the Giants practice squad until July 23, 2021, when he was placed on the injured reserve due to a hamstring injury and was released by the Giants six days later.

2019-2020: Taquan was with the New Orleans Saints practice squad from September 1, 2019 to August 2, 2020.

2017-2018: Taquan was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears on September 3, 2017. He debuted against the Buffalo Bills as a kick returner on November 4, 2018. Taquan scored his first NFL touchdown on U.S. Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions, where he caught a 10-yard reception from Chase Daniel. Taquan finished the 2018 season with nine carries for 16 yards and eight receptions for 78 yards plus one score.

2017: Taquan was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017.

College:

2013-2016: Taquan played running back at the University of Virginia for four years. He tallied a total of 2,068 rushing yards on 460 attempts with 12 touchdowns on the ground and recorded 1560 receiving yards off 195 receptions and seven touchdowns in the air. He’s the only player in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) history to finish his collegiate career with 1500 plus rushing yards and receiving yards.
