Lions lock up OL Fabien through 2017

The BC Lions Football Club announced today that offensive lineman Kirby Fabien has signed a two-year contract keeping him in BC through the 2017 season. Fabien was set to become a free agent in February.
“Kirby has developed into a very talented offensive lineman and I’m pleased to have him back with us,” said GM and head coach Wally Buono. “I’ve said many times that the game is won and lost along the line of scrimmage and our ability to keep gifted young players such as Kirby is a big part of our goal of building a championship team.”

After a promising rookie season was cut short after five games in 2013, the Calgary native and former first-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2012 CFL Draft has now appeared in 36 consecutive games over the past two seasons for the Leos.

“I’m excited about what we are building in BC,” said Fabien from his home in Calgary. “We have all the ingredients to be a competitive football team and I know we’re going to be back in a big way in 2016.”
