Training Camp Report: Day 17

Training Camp Day 17: June 14

Kamloops – Under cloudy and rainy skies, the BC Lions held their final padded practice before veterans depart Kamloops on Wednesday. With not much time to prepare for Friday’s preseason finale against Calgary, there was more crowd noise pumped in and a good portion of practice was devoted to team drills and no huddle offence.

WHO STOOD OUT:Moore, Nick 17 about to catch

Nick Moore had the nicest catch of the day, a one handed grab during team drills. Terence Jeffers-Harris and Stephen Adekolu both ran nice routes and made good plays. Adekolu impressed with his hands during two-on two drills. Devonn Brown was sharp during team drills and used his speed to pick up some nice yards after the catch. In the backfield, Anthony Allen had one of his better days of camp as he is now healed from a knee injury that kept him out of Saturday’s game in Saskatchewan. On the offensive line, Charles Vaillancourt continued to respond well to his first team reps. The 2016 first round pick is expected to start at right guard on Friday.

On defence, Jason Arakgi was a force most of the afternoon with some nice blitzes. Alex Bazzie, Mich’ael Brooks and Craig Roh were causing trouble for the offensive line for some of team play. Chandler Fenner did a nice job exploding the gap from his spot in the secondary.

QUOTES OF NOTE:

“Camp for me is something I have always enjoyed. It’s pure football. It’s not something that I hate so much that I can’t wait for it to be over. It’s been a great stay so far in Kamloops.”- Wally Buono reflecting on camp with one full day to go.

44 Bighill Adam ready“We have depth. Whether it’s linebacker, defensive back, d-line we have guys who can help us win football games. If everyone does their job, that’s how you become a great defence.”- Adam Bighill with a glowing review on the defence in camp.
