2020 BC Lions Season Update

There is no question, the impact of COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our lives, affecting everyone in so many ways. We continue to salute our front line and essential workers who are working so hard to keep us healthy and safe and we are all grateful for your efforts.

During these unprecedented times, only one thing has remained certain and that is, nothing is certain.

You have likely heard CFL Commissioner, Randy Ambrosie, requesting support from the federal government in the form of a partnership to help us mitigate the significant financial impacts that are being felt across the league as a result of the pandemic. We continue to wait for the outcome of his request on the CFL’s behalf.

In BC specifically, Premier Horgan recently announced a phased re-start plan in BC under the direction and guidance of health authorities. In the re-start plan, it was stated that allowing larger attended sporting events would be part of a later phase in the fall if one of three conditions could be met. We continue to remain optimistic and we are working out various scenarios including one that would allow us to play out a shortened season with the right measures in place.

That said, the safety our players, coaches, staff, stakeholders and our great fans, remains paramount. We will continue to follow the guidance and direction of our governments and medical experts to ensure this remains the top priority.

Without a doubt, the Canadian Football League and the BC Lions owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the passionate support of our owner, David Braley, who has been an advocate of the Canadian Football League for decades in so many capacities. Since taking over the ownership reigns of the BC Lions 23 years ago in 1997, David has been a champion of our great game across Canada. David continues to remain devoted to the team and league and wants it to be successful beyond the pandemic. He remains committed to doing everything he can.

In times of crisis, Canadians show their true spirit.

Adversity galvanizes our great country and brings us together in a way that is unique to being Canadian and makes us proud to show our colours no different than the excitement of a CFL game, particularly, the Grey Cup. As a BC Lions’ ticket package holder in the Canadian Football League, you represent our most passionate fans and we are asking you to keep your ticket credit with us to help fight one of the biggest battles this team, this league and our nation have ever faced.

This situation is going to continue for some months to come and we are stronger as a team in this fight together. With the possible scenarios that are upon us for the coming season, our team has been working hard on delivering a program that will provide you with additional value and benefits over and above your standard season ticket holder advantages by keeping your ticket payments with the Club. By doing so, we will reward you for your loyal support. Below is a summary of these incentives to show our appreciation and we are asking you to stay with us through this battle.

We are in this together and all striving for the same outcome – our collective health, the safety of our family and friends, and of course, the return of CFL football. It is time for all of us to demonstrate how we all have the Heart of a Lion. We look forward to the day we can celebrate together at a BC Lions game at BC Place.

ALL SEASON TICKET HOLDERS PAID IN FULL BY DECEMBER 1ST WILL RECEIVE THIS COMMEMORATIVE CERTIFICATE SHOWCASING THEIR SUPPORT OF THE BC LIONS IN 2020 DURING THIS UNPRECEDENTED TIME.
