Game on! 212 days after the 2016 season came to an end in the Western Final, your BC Lions are back and ready to take the next step when Mike Reilly and the
Edmonton Eskimos pay a visit to BC Place on Saturday (7:00PM, TSN 1040/TSN 1/ESPN3), presented by Save On Foods. The Lions and Eskimos split their two meetings last season and while it’s just game one of 18, the battle for playoff spots West Division of the CFL will most certainly last well into late October and the Lions need to take full advantage of dome field in first game of the season.

The winner of this opener will have a huge leg up in what should be another competitive fight in the Western Division. Emmanuel Arceneaux was a force against the green and gold last season, hauling in 15 catches for 296 yards and four touchdowns in the two meetings. These two clubs will face each other three times in 2017. Led by one the CFL’s rising stars Jonathon Jennings, the Lions come into Saturday’s tilt after a convincing 42-10 preseason win over Saskatchewan last week. This one counts in the standings however, so the young pivot will needanother solid outing against the Green and Gold.

On defence, linebacker Solomon Elimimian leads a solid group of veterans against Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly. Look for an attacking style of play keen on bringing plenty of pressure to the quarterback.

BC LIONS & BC PLACE SECURITY POLICY UPDATE

In our ongoing effort to provide a safe and entertaining environment for every one of our fans, the BC Lions Football Club and BC Place have partnered to implement best-practice security procedures for the 2017 season.

  • Entry Procedure: All guests entering BC Place are required to participate in a mandatory full pat-down.
  • Bag Policy: All bags smaller than 14’’x14’’x6’’ will be inspected prior to entry. Containers, coolers or bags larger than 14’’x14’’x6’’ are prohibited. Special considerations will be made for guests with special medical needs and parents caring for infants.
  • Arrive Early: Due to these increased safety procedures, we strongly recommend early arrival to BC Lions games. Approaching BC Place from Beatty Street, fans are advised that Gates A & H are the two most popular – and therefore busiest – entry points at the stadium.
  • Lineups? If you experience a lineup at a given gate, please remember that you can enter the stadium at any alternate gate, except Gates F and G.

Please reach out to us at 604.589.ROAR (7627) if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding and look forward to a fun and safe Lions Football season at BC Place.
