The BC Lions selected Francis in round one (9th overall) of the 2023 CFL Draft.

Highlights:

2023: After making his CFL debut in a September 22 victory in Edmonton, Bemiy would appear in nine regular season games during his rookie campaign and recorded five defensive tackles.

College:

2022: Granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bemiy showed out in his final year with the Thunderbirds. Once again playing in all 11 games, he recorded three sacks, 26 total tackles, and 13 tackles for a loss of 47 yards. Adding another forced fumble to his resume, he earned his spot on the Bluebloods 1st Team All-Conference.

2021: 2021 was Bemiy’s most successful at the college level. He recorded his second-best total tackles at 48 on the year. Despite more games played, he finished the 2021 campaign with four sacks for a loss of 28 yards, matching his total from the previous year. He led the team in sacks and tackles for loss, recording 12.5 tackles for a loss of 50 yards. Bemiy recorded his second college forced fumble and first-ever fumble recovery in the 2021 season.

2020:
In the shortened 2020 season (which took place in spring 2021), Bemiy posted an impressive 25 total tackles in the six-game season, including a season-high eight tackles against Idaho State. He recorded a personal-best four sacks on the year, earning the honours of All-Big Sky First Team DefenCe.

2019: In his sophomore season, Bemiy took on a much more significant role with the team, finishing with 24 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, and five tackles for a loss of 18 yards. He played in all 11 of Southern Utah’s games before the season shut down due to COVID-19. Bemiy added two sacks and one forced fumble in his second year.

2018: Bemiy appeared in 10 games during his freshman season at Southern Utah. The defensive lineman recorded 13 total tackles in his appearances, 7 solo. He also recorded 2.5 tackles for a loss of 3 yards.

Personal:

Francis Bemiy grew up in Montreal, Quebec, raised by his Ghanian mother and St. Lucian father. Bemiy left home for his final two years of high school and moved to Riverside, CA to play for the RCHS Carnegie Wolverines, where he was nominated for Arrowhead League MVP in both years with the team. Bemiy also played basketball for the Wolverines, and says basketball and soccer are ‘his first true loves.’
