William was signed by the Lions as a free agent on February 6, 2024.

Highlights:

2023: Stanback was back at full health for his fifth season in Montreal before racking up 800 yards and a pair of  majors on 147 total carries. The bruising back was a major catalyst in Montreal’s Grey Cup run with 95 yards on the ground to help beat Hamilton in the Eastern Semi-Final and then racking up 68 yards and the Alouettes’ first touchdown as they took down Winnipeg in the 110th Grey Cup on November 19.

2022: An ankle injury limited Stanback to just five games in 2022 and he would finish with 34 carries for 153 yards and one touchdown.

2021: Stanback returned to Montreal and enjoyed a career year in 2021, suiting up in 12 regular season games while emerging as the CFL’s leader with 1,176 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 176 total carries. Along with earning CFL and East Division All-Star nods for the second time, Stanback was the Eastern Division nominee for CFL Most Outstanding Player.

2020: Signed a reserve/futures contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in January and was waived by the team late in training camp.

2019: Enjoyed a breakout campaign and earned both CFL and East Division All-Star selections after rushing for 1,048 yards and five touchdowns on 170 carries. Stanback’s breakout performance came in week four with 203 yards rushing. He also hauled in 33 receptions for a career-high 329 yards through the air.

2018: Stanback moved north to the Montreal Alouettes and suited up in 16 games in his rookie campaign, carrying the ball 81 times for 539 yards while also catching 25 passes for 313 yards with two touchdowns.

College:

2016: Transferred to Virginia Union for his senior season and ran for 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns while being named to the All-CIAA First Team.

2013-15: Stanback appeared in 25 games at Central Florida, rushing for 1,151 yards and 16 touchdowns on 306 carries while adding 27 receptions for 244 yards and three majors.
