The BC Lions Football Club today announced that Stanley Franks has been added to the club’s coaching staff as an assistant defensive backs coach.
Franks returns to the Lions after a three-year run at Idaho State where he coached the school’s secondary. The California native and University of Idaho grad was signed by the Lions as a free agent at the end of the 2009 season. An 18-game starter who tallied 70 defensive tackles and three interceptions for the club in 2010, Stanley had his 2011 campaign and career cut short by a knee injury in the second week of the regular season.
“Stanley is valuable addition to our staff,” said defensive coordinator Mark Washington.
“His experience as a player in this league and as a coach at the NCAA level will be of great benefit to our players. He served as a guest coach for us a few years ago and I was very impressed with his knowledge, understanding and demeanor with our players. I am looking forward to working with Stanley as he helps our team improve and compete.”
