Lions Trail Eskimos By Eight At Half

Mike Reilly’s late connection to Deuce Williams was the only first half major as the Edmonton Eskimos led 13-5 at the break in tonight’s regular season opener. Ty Long has accounted for all of the home side’s points: two punt singles and a 43-yard field goal.

Jonathon Jennings completed ten of 15 passes for 104 yards and also added 26 rushing yards on three carries.

His first quarter fumble led to one of two field goals by Shaun Whyte. Credit to the stout defensive line for limiting the damage after that takeaway.

Solomon Elimimian led the way with four tackles and is now one shy of the club’s all-time record, held by Dante Marsh. As we predicted in our game preview, the line of scrimmage battle has been intense on both sides. Edmonton will receive the second half kickoff.
